Liturgy, unlike any other form of prayer, manifests the reality of the Church. Liturgy is public, communal prayer and in some sense the work of the people gathered and praying, but liturgy is primarily the work of God who is present quite literaly in every liturgy. Along with God, in every liturgical moment, the enitre hosts of heaven is present (angels and saints). Also, nowhere are we closer to our beloved dead than when we are participating in the liturgy of the Church. All of the sacraments are examples of liturgies as is the prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours which though open to everyone, is said by every priest, deacon and vowed person throughout the world. Every liturgical action is an enounter with God and prayer for the entire world, let's pray for an increase of faith so we may experience and realize the great gift liturgy is.
